Youth Leader Hariom Thekedar Targeted in Firing, Jatav Community Demands Swift Action

Karauli/Dausa: Strong resentment has spread within the Jatav community following a life-threatening attack on Hariom Thekedar, Youth President of the Jatav Samaj Sudhar Samiti (KarauliโSawai MadhopurโDausa). In protest, a delegation of the committee submitted a memorandum to the Superintendent of Police, Dausa, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused and strict legal action.
During the submission, Committee President Hattiram Thekedar, Spokesperson Rinku Khedi Haivat, victim Hariom Thekedar, Chandrabhan Thekedar (Mahuwa), Udaybhan alias Ramkesh, Jitesh Thekedar (Gajipur), Rajesh Churari, along with several office bearers and members, were present. All strongly condemned the incident and urged swift police action.
Incident Details
According to the committee, on the night of April 20, 2026, around 11:30 PM, unidentified assailants stopped Hariom Thekedarโs vehicle on the Hindaun Road, between Gajipur turn and the toll plaza, and opened fire. The committee described the attack as pre-planned and categorized it as an attempted murder under organized criminal activity.
An FIR (No. 179/2026, dated April 21, 2026) has been registered at Mahuwa Police Station under sections 109(1), 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 and Section 3/25 of the Arms Act. However, no accused has been named or arrested so far, increasing anger and concern within the community.
Key Demands by the Committee
Through the memorandum, the committee has put forward the following demands:
- Immediate identification and arrest of all unknown accused
- Fair and speedy investigation into the case
- Adequate police protection for Hariom Thekedar and his family
- Increased police patrolling in the area to prevent such incidents
- Provision of a licensed weapon to the victim for self-defense
Warning of Protest
Committee President Hattiram Thekedar stated, โThis attack is not just on an individual but on the entire community. There is a growing atmosphere of fear. If prompt action is not taken, the community will be forced to launch an เคเคเคฆเฅเคฒเคจ.โ
He further informed that the committee has 13 tehsil presidents, who will submit memorandums at their respective tehsil levels on April 27, 2026, demanding action and seeking updates on the investigation.
Appeal to Administration
The committee has urged the district administration to understand the seriousness of the matter and take immediate and strict action to restore public confidence and prevent recurrence of such incidents.
