NDPS Case: 11 Years Later, Court Sentences Accused to 5 Years in Jail

The Additional District and Sessions Court (ADJ) in Bari, Rajasthan, has delivered a verdict in an 11-year-old case under the NDPS Act. The court sentenced accused Bhagwan Das to five years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹25,000.

The case dates back to September 24, 2014, when the Sarmathura Police arrested Bhagwan Das and Ajmer Singh near Dhanora Road in Bari with 3 kilograms of marijuana. A case was filed under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act, and a chargesheet was submitted to the court.

During the trial, one of the accused, Ajmer Singh, passed away. The proceedings continued against Bhagwan Das. According to Additional Public Prosecutor Advocate Manoj Singh Parihar, 11 witnesses and 27 documentary evidences were presented in court. Based on these, Judge Sunil Kumar Gupta found Bhagwan Das guilty and delivered the sentence.
