A press conference was organized today by the District Congress Committee in Dholpur. The event was attended by Women Reservation Bill campaign in-charge and former MLA Shafia Zubair, Karauli–Dholpur MP Bhajanlal Jatav, Dholpur MLA Shobharani Kushwaha, Rajakhera MLA Rohit Bohra, and former Congress candidate from Bari constituency Prashant Parmar, along with several women representatives and party workers.

During the press conference, the leaders demanded that under the Women Reservation Bill, 33% of the 543 Lok Sabha seats—approximately 181 seats—should be reserved for women. They also stressed that 33% reservation should be ensured in all State Legislative Assemblies. Additionally, they demanded equal representation for women within SC and ST reserved seats as well.

The leaders highlighted that under the leadership of former Prime Minister Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot, significant steps were taken to strengthen women empowerment and increase their participation in the Panchayati Raj system. They also noted that in 2010, the Women Reservation Bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha during the UPA government, marking an important milestone for women’s political rights.

It was further stated that while women are currently receiving 33% to 50% reservation in Panchayats and urban local bodies, there is a need to effectively implement similar provisions in Parliament and State Assemblies.

The leaders collectively urged the government to implement the Women Reservation Bill without delay, ensuring dignity, equality, and fair political representation for women across the country.
