
Karauli, June 11 — Rajasthan’s Water Resources Minister Suresh Singh Rawat inaugurated a series of crucial water conservation projects from the historic Panchna Dam in Karauli district. A total of 11 projects — four in Karauli and seven in Dholpur — were formally launched through ground-breaking and foundation laying ceremonies.
The projects include modernization of Panchna Dam, along with construction of a new anicut in Vyajat village, Suroth, at a cost of ₹6.06 crore. Another anicut worth ₹1.62 crore will be built at Tikhooti in Kalaguda, while a ₹6.31 crore anicut will be constructed in Jatnagla.
Minister Rawat emphasized the need to transform the “Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan Jan Abhiyan” into a mass movement. He appealed to public representatives, officials, and citizens to actively participate in water conservation efforts to recharge groundwater and ensure water availability for animals and birds.
Karauli MLA Darshan Singh Gurjar and Sapotra MLA Hansraj Meena, along with District Collector Neelabh Saxena and Additional SP Gumnaram, were present. A large number of local citizens also attended the event.
