Meghalaya Police Continue Interrogation of Accused
On Friday, the Meghalaya Police continued interrogating the five accused in the brutal murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi. All accused are lodged in Sadar Police Station lockup, Shillong. Sources say the accused requested North Indian food, which the police arranged.

Raja’s Last Rites Performed in Ujjain; Sonam’s Brother Present
Raja’s family performed his pind-daan at Shipra Ghat in Ujjain. Interestingly, Sonam’s brother Govind accompanied the family. He stated, “Had I known about Sonam and Raja’s relationship earlier, I would’ve helped them get married.”

Govind’s Statement: She Brought Shame to the Family
Govind added, “My sister is short-tempered and stubborn. If she didn’t want to marry Raja, she could have refused clearly. What she did is unforgivable. If proven guilty, she should be hanged.”

• According to police, Sonam and her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha planned Raja’s murder 11 days before the wedding.
• Three accomplices – Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi – reached Shillong on May 19.
• After the murder, Sonam wore a black burqa, left on a taxi, and fled to Siliguri, and later was found in Ghazipur on June 9.

Police revealed that the accused hoped Raja’s body would decay and take months to discover. Sonam planned to resurface later claiming she was kidnapped, hoping to mislead the investigation.
