Massive Infrastructure Push in Rajasthan: RIICO and PWD Join Forces for ā¹290 Crore Industrial Road Project

JAIPUR: Smooth logistics and seamless connectivity are the backbone of any thriving industrial sector. Recognizing this critical need, the Rajasthan government is set to completely transform the freight and transportation landscape across its manufacturing hubs. In a major move to enhance the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ and eliminate supply chain bottlenecks, the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) and the Public Works Department (PWD) have forged a strategic partnership.
Together, they will upgrade and construct crucial road networks that directly connect remote industrial areas to the main state highways, ensuring hassle-free movement of raw materials and finished goods.
The 50:50 Cost-Sharing Masterplan
To execute this large-scale infrastructure upgrade efficiently, the state has adopted a collaborative cost-sharing model. Under this initiative, 38 vital approach roads falling under the PWD’s jurisdiction have been identified for immediate widening, strengthening, and new construction.
The total estimated expenditure for this ambitious project stands at ā¹290.82 crore. To ease the financial burden on a single entity, the funding will be split exactly in halfāwith RIICO and the PWD each bearing 50% of the total project cost.
Project Scope and Benefitting Districts
Covering a total spanning length of approximately 205 kilometers, this road network revamp is designed to provide maximum geographic coverage. The project will directly benefit entrepreneurs, factory owners, and heavy vehicle operators across 16 major industrial districts and zones in Rajasthan.
The primary districts slated to benefit from these upgraded approach roads include:
- Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Udaipur, and Bhilwara
- Abu Road, Balotra, Banswara, and Bharatpur
- Churu, Dausa, Jalore, and Jhalawar
- Neemrana, Sawai Madhopur, and Sriganganagar
Current Progress: Funds Transferred, Tenders Up Next
The administrative wheels are already turning rapidly to bring this project to the ground.
- Official Approvals: The PWD issued the official administrative and financial sanction for the ā¹290.82 crore budget on May 6, 2026. This followed a prior approval by the RIICO Board of Directors during their meeting on March 17, 2026.
- Financial Transfer: Showing prompt commitment, RIICO has already transferred the first installment of ā¹72.70 crore (half of its total ā¹145.41 crore share) directly to the PWD.
- Next Steps: With the initial funding secured and transferred, the PWD is now preparing to invite official tenders to commence the on-ground construction and strengthening work at the earliest.
Bonus Initiative: Resolving the Industrial Water Crisis
Beyond just road connectivity, RIICO is actively addressing other fundamental utility shortages in the state’s manufacturing zones. The corporation has greenlit an additional ā¹143 crore project to establish a robust and uninterrupted drinking water supply system across 24 RIICO industrial areas.
This parallel utility project will be executed in collaboration with the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED). Unlike the road project, RIICO will provide 100% of the ā¹143 crore funding to the PHED to ensure the swift implementation of these water facilities.
These comprehensive infrastructure upgrades highlight the state’s unwavering commitment to providing world-class facilities to investors and accelerating industrial growth across Rajasthan.
