Jatav Community Submits Memorandum to Karauli Collector; Demands Bounties on Accused and Jobs for Victim’s Family

Karauli: zThe demand for justice in the Ramveer Singh Jatav murder case intensified on Wednesday as the Jatav community issued an ultimatum to the district administration. Led by the Youth President of the District Jatav Samaj Sudhar Samiti (360 Villages), dozens of villagers submitted a formal memorandum to the District Collector, questioning the slow pace of the investigation.
Accused Still at Large Two Months After Incident
According to the memorandum, Ramveer Singh Jatav was brutally murdered by a mob of more than 10 individuals on March 4, 2026, in Mukrawali village. Although a case was registered at the Suroth police station (FIR No. 0073/2026), protesters alleged that the main culprits are still roaming free. This has created a climate of fear and insecurity across the Jatav-dominated villages of the Hindaun City region.
Key Demands in the Memorandum:
The Jatav Samaj Sudhar Samiti has placed several urgent demands before the administration:
- Bounty on Accused: The immediate arrest of the absconding killers and a bounty of ₹10,000 to be declared on each accused.
- Removal of Encroachments: Removal of illegal encroachments from the victims’ private land and approximately 300 bighas of pasture land within 24 hours.
- Compensation and Security: Provision of ₹5 lakh in compensation, a compassionate government job for a family member, housing, and a weapons license for self-defense.
- Impartial Investigation: Citing concerns over political influence and caste bias, the committee demanded a change of the Investigating Officer (IO) to ensure a fair probe.
References to Prior Threats
The committee also highlighted an FIR filed in December 2025 regarding threats made by a former Congress District President and others, demanding that those cases also be handled with strict legal action.
Warning of Mass Agitation
The delegation included several prominent figures, including Veer Singh, Deepchand, spokesperson Rinku Kheri Haibat, and Sumran Singh. Youth President Hariom Thekedar issued a stern warning: if the administration does not take concrete steps within the stipulated time, the Jatav Samaj of 360 villages will be forced to launch a large-scale, intense protest.
