Karauli: The Jatav community in Karauli has expressed deep resentment over the lack of progress in the Ramveer Jatav murder case. Despite two months passing since the brutal killing, the community alleges that the administration has failed to arrest the key suspects, leading to a climate of fear and injustice in the region.

The Incident and Legal Delay

On March 4, 2026, Ramveer Jatav was allegedly murdered by a mob of more than 10 individuals in Suroth. Although a formal First Information Report (FIR No. 0073/2026) was registered immediately following the incident, the perpetrators remain at large.

Rinku Kheri Haibat, spokesperson for the Jatav Samaj, stated that the failure to arrest the accused is a “grave misfortune” and reflects poorly on the local law enforcement’s commitment to justice.

Allegations of Coercion and Intimidation

The community has raised serious concerns regarding a ‘Sarv Samaj Panchayat’ called by the opposing party scheduled for May 7. According to community leaders, this gathering is being used to exert undue pressure on the victim’s family to reach a “compromise.”

The spokesperson highlighted that the family is being intimidated under the guise of the 24 Baisa and 8 Gurjar villages’ collective decision—a move that the victim’s family and local villagers strongly oppose.

Key Demands for Administration

In a memorandum supported by dozens of villagers, the Jatav community has put forward four urgent demands to the Suroth Station House Officer (SHO):

  1. Immediate Arrests: Swift apprehension and strict legal action against all named suspects in the murder case.
  2. Protection Against Coercion: Ensuring that the victim’s family is not forced into any involuntary settlements or legal compromises.
  3. Deployment of Security Forces: Due to the tension surrounding the May 7th Panchayat, the community demands heavy police deployment in Bhukhrawali village to prevent any untoward incidents.
  4. Action Against Local Theft: Villagers reported a spike in thefts (bore starters, cables) and the presence of suspicious unidentified individuals at night. They have requested intensified night patrolling.

Warning of Mass Protests

The meeting saw the presence of prominent local figures including Lavkush, Lakhan Singh, Sumran Singh, Bunty Jatav, Atar Singh, and many others. The community has warned that if the administration fails to provide safety and ensure justice for Ramveer Jatav’s family, they will be forced to launch a large-scale democratic protest.
