Jat Community Revives Quota Demand: Maha Panchayat on June 11 in Kumher, Bharatpur Region Demands OBC Status

The Jat community from Bharatpur, Dholpur, and Deeg districts in Rajasthan is once again mobilizing for its long-pending demand of OBC reservation. The Bharatpur-Dholpur-Deeg Jat Reservation Struggle Committee has announced a Maha Panchayat to be held on June 11 in Kumher (Deeg district), following a strategic meeting in Jaychauli.

The Core Issue

According to the community, Jats from all other districts in Rajasthan benefit from central OBC reservation, except those from Bharatpur, Dholpur, and Deeg. This exclusion is the core reason behind the renewed movement. The community claims this is unfair and discriminatory.

Previous Movement in 2024

Committee convener Nem Singh Fauzdar highlighted that a similar protest was carried out in 2024 but was paused due to the Lok Sabha elections. He claims the community’s resistance played a key role in the BJP’s defeat in Bharatpur, Dholpur, and Karauli constituencies.

Unfulfilled Political Promises

The committee accused political leaders of making grand promises about resolving the reservation issue during elections but remaining silent after coming to power. They believe the government is intentionally ignoring the community’s concerns.

Solidarity With Gurjar Community

Fauzdar emphasized that the Jat community stands with the Gurjar community on the issue of OBC reservation. He added that if necessary, local meetings and door-to-door mobilization through yellow rice distribution will follow the Maha Panchayat. The direction of the movement will be decided after the June 11 gathering.
