Gurjar Community Rises Again: Maha Panchayat on June 8 in Bharatpur, Demanding Full 5% Quota Implementation

The Gurjar reservation movement is once again gaining momentum in Rajasthan. Under the leadership of Gurjar Reservation Struggle Committee chief Vijay Bainsla, a massive “Maha Panchayat” has been announced for June 8 in Peelupara village of Bharatpur district. Preparations are in full swing, with invitations being distributed in over 300 villages using the traditional method of “yellow rice”.

Key Demands

The primary demand of the Gurjar community is the full implementation of 5% reservation in government jobs and education, as promised earlier. The committee is also pressing for the immediate enforcement of previously signed agreements. They have warned of a larger movement if the demands are ignored.

Historical Background

The Gurjar reservation struggle is not new. The community has organized several large-scale protests in the past, including blocking railways and highways. Peelupara village holds symbolic significance as a historic protest site, where thousands have previously gathered.

Government on Alert

With the announcement of the panchayat, local administration has increased vigilance. Police and senior district officials have been deployed in the area to ensure peace and order during the event.

All Eyes on June 8

The Maha Panchayat on June 8 could set the tone for future movements. The government’s response will be crucial in determining whether tensions escalate or a resolution is reached through dialogue.
