Controversy Over Mayor Saumya Gurjar’s Israel Visit Cancellation: The Real Reason Revealed

Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation Mayor Dr. Saumya Gurjar has landed in controversy over her recent statement regarding the cancellation of her proposed visit to Israel.

She publicly stated that she canceled her Israel tour due to the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. However, official communication reveals that the Israeli government itself canceled the event due to escalating conflict in the region.

The Muni World Municipal Conference 2025, scheduled from June 16 to 20, was to be held in Israel, with mayors from Jaipur, Indore, Surat, and two other cities invited. Following an Israeli airstrike on Iran on June 13, tensions soared, prompting Israel to call off the conference.

Despite receiving the cancellation notice via email, Mayor Gurjar’s announcement linked the cancellation to the Ahmedabad tragedy, sparking political discussion in Jaipur’s civic corridors.
