Security forces in Upper Assam have launched an aggressive crackdown on local crime rings and illegal operations. In a major breakthrough, Sivasagar police successfully busted an alleged arms trafficking network. A coordinated operation led to the arrest of four individuals suspected of smuggling weapons across the region. Law enforcement authorities recovered incriminating materials from their possession and are currently investigating their broader operational links.

Simultaneously, a high profile extortion attempt was thwarted in Dibrugarh district. Duliajan police detained two local youth leaders belonging to the Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad. The accused, identified as Ranjit Bora and Prahlad Gogoi, allegedly tried to extort a substantial amount of money from a private contracting firm engaged by Oil India Limited. Following a formal complaint from the contractor, police acted swiftly to arrest the duo. Both individuals are undergoing intense interrogation as investigators trace whether they are linked to other oil sector extortion rackets in the region.

Local authorities emphasized that these back to back operations reflect a zero tolerance policy toward extortion and illegal arms distribution. Security measures have been heavily tightened around essential oil infrastructure and vulnerable public spaces across Upper Assam to ensure safety and prevent further criminal interference.

This video reports on a related major crime crackdown in Assam where police successfully busted an illegal operation and arrested four individuals.
