Karauli, Rajasthan — In a significant breakthrough, Karauli police have arrested Ravi Meena alias Gajraj, a wanted criminal with a ₹5,000 reward on his head. The accused had been absconding for over 1.5 years in connection with a kidnapping-for-ransom case.

According to Kotwali SHO Adhyatma Gautam, a tip-off revealed that Ravi Meena was heading towards Meena Baroda village. A police team set up a barricade in Kashiram Pura, but Meena tried to flee towards the hills upon spotting the police. However, the team successfully chased and captured him.

Ravi Meena hails from Meena Baroda, under the Wazirpur Police Station in Sawai Madhopur district. Earlier, three co-accused were already arrested, and one juvenile was sent to a juvenile home.

The case dates back to November 16, 2023, when Prakash Dhobi, a resident of Indira Colony, filed an FIR stating his grandson Ankit had gone to the bus stand for a haircut and was abducted by unknown persons in a car. The kidnappers later demanded ₹50,000 ransom using Ankit’s phone, threatening to kill him if the ransom wasn’t paid.

The arrest was made by a team comprising ASI Pratap Singh, Head Constables Khem Singh, Vijay Singh, Constables Raja Singh, Veer Pratap, Munim, and Gajraj. Ravi Meena has been remanded to police custody for further investigation.
