The Indian government is preparing to launch a new mobile application for Aadhaar card holders, called the e-Aadhaar app. Developed by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), this app aims to simplify and secure Aadhaar-related services. Users will be able to easily update information such as name, address, and date of birth from their smartphones, eliminating the long queues and paperwork at Aadhaar service centers. The app is expected to be available by the end of 2025, further strengthening the Digital India mission.
Key Features of the e-Aadhaar App
The new e-Aadhaar app will be equipped with advanced technologies such as AI and Face ID, making the update process not only faster but also more secure. Users will be able to update their Aadhaar information from the comfort of their homes, and only need to visit an Aadhaar center for biometric updates (such as fingerprint or iris scans). This feature will save time and help prevent identity fraud.
Auto-fetch feature will make updates easier
UIDAI is adding a unique feature to the app that allows documents to be automatically retrieved from government databases. This will include documents such as birth certificates, PAN cards, passports, driving licenses, ration cards, MNREGA records, and even electricity bills. This feature will not only simplify the update process but also ensure the accuracy of the information.
