A tragic incident occurred at the Chambal Filter Plant near Dholpur Road where a contract worker died after slipping into a 15-foot-deep recycled water tank while cleaning. The deceased, Vijendra, son of Murarilal from Nagla Jhor (Rudawal Police Station), lost his balance while cleaning near the tank wall and fell inside.

Despite attempts to rescue him, Vijendra was found dead by local residents Rohitash Kashyap and Jugalkishore after being retrieved from the water. The SDRF and police were informed immediately.

According to Executive Engineer Gokulesh Deshwal, Vijendra had been working on a contract basis for the past 1.5 years. He was using ropes to support himself, but no safety equipment like belts, gloves, or shoes was provided during the cleaning task.

This incident highlights serious negligence by the Chambal Project authorities, especially just two days after four workers died in a trench collapse at another project site. A complaint was lodged by Vijendra’s brother Ashok, and the body was handed over to the family after post-mortem.
