Mahbubnagar (Telangana)/Santa Clara (USA): Mohammad Nizamuddin, a 29-year-old resident of Telangana’s Mahbubnagar district, was killed in police firing in California, USA. The incident occurred on September 3 in Santa Clara, California, after an argument with his roommate escalated into a violent altercation.
According to the family, Nizamuddin was working and living in the US as a software engineer. His father, Mohammad Hasnuddin, said he learned of the tragic incident through a friend. He has appealed to the central government for assistance in bringing his son’s body back to India. In a letter to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, he said, “I still don’t understand why the police shot my son. Please intervene immediately.”In this case, Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) spokesperson Amjad Ullah Khan has also publicly acknowledged the family’s appeal and demanded central government intervention.
Meanwhile, the Santa Clara Police Department has issued a statement regarding the incident. According to police, they received a domestic violence call at around 6:18 a.m. on September 3rd. Upon arriving at the scene, they found that Nizamuddin had attacked his roommate with a knife and was attempting to attack again in the presence of police. When police attempted to stop him, shots were fired to control the situation. Police say this action likely saved a life. Two knives were also recovered from the scene.
It is worth noting that Mohammad Nizamuddin had completed his Master’s degree from the United States and was a software professional by profession. His sudden passing is a profound shock not only for the family but for the entire community.
Now Nizamuddin’s family is hoping that the Central Government and the Indian Embassy will help them in bringing their son’s body to India as soon as possible.
