Uttar Pradesh is reeling under an intense heatwave. On Monday, Jhansi and Agra recorded 45.9°C, making them the second hottest places in the country after Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan (47.3°C).

🔹 Heatwave Alerts Across 19 Districts

The Meteorological Department has issued heatwave warnings for districts like Prayagraj, Varanasi, Kanpur, and Mirzapur. Atul Kumar Singh from Lucknow Weather Centre noted that light showers might begin in eastern UP post June 11.

🔹 Power Demand Breaks Records

With rising temperatures, electricity demand has peaked. On June 8 night, UP saw a record power demand of 30,161 MW. This may reach 32,000 MW in the coming weeks.

🔹 Parents Demand School Holiday Extension

Despite extreme weather, schools are scheduled to reopen on June 16. Parents and teachers are urging CM Yogi Adityanath to extend holidays till June 30, citing risks to children’s health.
