Rosamund Pike : Rosamund Pike has hailed Judi Dench as the finest actress she has ever shared a screen or stage with, describing her as a “mischief maker” and “utterly delightful.”The 47-year-old starred alongside Dench in the 2002 James Bond film Die Another Day and in the 2009 London stage production of Madame de Sade. Pike praised Dench for her effortless ability to slip into character while still being full of fun offstage.
Speaking to comedian and radio host Romesh Ranganathan on BBC Radio 2, Pike said:
“If you ever want to hear something brief but breathtaking, just listen to Judi Dench read a Shakespeare sonnet. It’ll move you to tears—you’ll think, ‘this is how English should be spoken.’ And when you’re doing a play with her, she’s hilarious and mischievous, then walks on stage and delivers perfection.”
Pike also named Christian Bale, her co-star in the 2017 film Hostiles, as the best actor she has worked with. She added that, due to Bale’s method acting, they didn’t get to know each other personally as he often stayed fully in character.
