Bharatpur district is witnessing a spike in thefts, raising concerns about the effectiveness of night police patrols. In the past year, over 1300 burglaries have been reported. Despite night deployment of 15 police personnel and 6–7 home guards per station, thefts continue.
Recently, two major burglaries occurred in the Sewar area — one at the house of constable Vasudev Singh, where jewelry and cash worth ₹2.5 lakh were stolen, and another in Bajrang Nagar, where thieves took away valuables worth ₹1.5 lakh. CCTV footage confirmed the incident.
According to SP Mridul Kachhava, theft cases dropped from 1500+ in 2023 to 1388 in 2024, citing improved patrolling and quicker response.
