According to the report, a total of 81 mega-projects worth over ₹2.72 lakh crore are currently underway across crucial sectors like railways, roads, energy, petroleum, and civil aviation, positioning Rajasthan as a modern infrastructure hub.

1. Rajasthan Refinery: A Revolution in the Petroleum Sector

The Rajasthan Refinery project in Pachpadra, Barmer, stands as one of the state’s most ambitious infrastructure marvels and is gearing up for its grand inauguration soon.

  • Investment: Developed under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, the mega-project scales a massive cost of ₹79,459 crore.
  • Impact: The refinery will completely revolutionize the supply of petroleum products not just in Rajasthan, but across Western and North-Western India, while generating immense local employment.
  • Allied Projects: Additionally, HPCL is developing a Petrochemical Evacuation and Marketing Terminal in Barmer at a cost of ₹461 crore, which is targeted for completion by December 2026.

2. Striding Towards Energy Self-Reliance

Capitalizing on Rajasthan’s immense renewable and conventional energy potential, the state is rapidly expanding its power transmission grid.

  • Currently, 19 energy transmission projects worth over ₹75,000 crore are operational, including several multi-state ventures.
  • Notable among these is the ‘Rajasthan Part-1 Power Transmission Project,’ valued at ₹25,000 crore, which extends its network across Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.

3. Upgrading and Modernizing Railway Infrastructure

The railway sector in Rajasthan is witnessing a significant overhaul with 23 ongoing projects under the North-Western Railway (NWR), totaling an investment of ₹1,64,998 crore.

  • The Western Dedicated Freight Corridor: This mega-project, worth ₹1,24,000 crore traversing Gujarat, Haryana, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, is in its final stages of completion.
  • Boosting Spiritual Tourism: To seamlessly connect iconic pilgrimage sites, the government is laying new rail lines, including Devgarh Madariya to Nathdwara (₹968 crore), Nathdwara-Nathdwara Town (₹166 crore), Pushkar-Merta City (₹799 crore), and the Pokaran-Ramdevra line (₹189 crore).
  • Key Capacity Upgrades: Other vital projects include a Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Maintenance Depot (₹166 crore), the Ajmer-Chanderiya track doubling (₹1,634 crore), and the Sawai Madhopur-Jaipur railway line expansion (₹1,203 crore).

4. Expanding the Network of Highways and Roads

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), along with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), is currently executing 28 highway projects worth approximately ₹18,000 crore across the state.

  • Delhi-Vadodara Greenfield Alignment: A major portion of this highway, built at a cost of over ₹6,500 crore, passes through Rajasthan, drastically reducing travel times.
  • Completed Milestones: The four-laning of the Pachpadra-Bagundi section on NH-25 (₹195 crore) and the Beawar-Gomti section on the Ajmer-Jodhpur National Highway (₹379 crore) are nearly finished. Furthermore, the Fatehpur, Mandawa, and Jhunjhunu bypasses on NH-11 (₹186 crore) have been successfully completed.

5. Civil Aviation: Elevating Rajasthan’s Air Connectivity

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is actively implementing three major terminal and airport projects worth ₹2,874 crore to enhance regional connectivity:

  • Bundi-Kota Greenfield Airport: This ₹1,507 crore project, approved in August 2025, is scheduled for completion by November 2027 and is set to be a game-changer for the Hadoti region.
  • Utopian Terminals: Udaipur Airport’s Integrated Terminal project is being upgraded at a cost of ₹887 crore (target: September 2026), while the new domestic passenger terminal at Jodhpur Airport (₹480 crore) is nearing completion.
