Rajasthan is reeling under an intense heatwave. On Wednesday, Sri Ganganagar recorded a scorching 48°C, making it the hottest place in the state and the highest June temperature since 2019. Surprisingly, Jaipur at 44.4°C was hotter than both Barmer (44.2°C) and Jaisalmer (43.7°C).
Churu (45.8°C), Bikaner (45.1°C), and Kota (45.1°C) also reported extreme heat. Night temperatures are offering little relief, with Sri Ganganagar recording a minimum of 34.6°C — the hottest night of the season.
The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Bikaner division on June 12 and 13. Orange alerts are in place for Alwar, Bharatpur, Dholpur, Jaisalmer, and Barmer due to ongoing heatwave conditions.
However, relief may be on the horizon. A new weather system is expected to become active around June 15, potentially bringing thunderstorms and rain to 25 districts including Jaipur, Kota, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Bharatpur, and Ajmer.
Even Mount Abu, Rajasthan’s only hill station, is witnessing temperatures between 31–33°C, while night temperatures in plains like Jaipur, Kota, and Dausa remain above 32°C.
