Karauli, Rajasthan:

In a concerted effort to eradicate the social evil of child marriage from the root, the District Administration and ActionAid Association have intensified their campaign. District Collector Shri Akshay Godara officially launched a special ‘Public Awareness Poster’ at the District Secretariat. This poster is designed to serve as an effective tool to educate the public about the detrimental consequences of child marriage and to encourage citizens to report such incidents.

Proactive Initiatives by ActionAid Association

During the event, Pawan Kumar Gupta, Assistant Director of the District Child Protection Unit and Child Empowerment Department, highlighted the ongoing work of the ActionAid Association. The organization has been working tirelessly across the entire region, including the Masalpur block, to protect child rights. Their key activities include:

  • Community Dialogue: Continuous dialogue programs and sensitivity mapping to drive mass awareness.
  • Grassroots Surveys: Conducting comprehensive field surveys to identify and prevent potential cases of child marriage.
  • Educational Advocacy: Ensuring the education, security, and protection of rights for young girls.

Under the leadership of District Coordinator Dinesh Kumar Bairwa, these efforts have fostered a positive atmosphere of social awareness, providing significant momentum to child protection initiatives in the district.

Emphasis on Collective Participation

The poster launch was attended by Anil Sharma, Chairman of the District Child Welfare Committee; committee member Fazle Ahmed; child welfare advocate Hemraj Mali; and various social activists. The attendees collectively condemned child marriage as a curse to society and emphasized the need for unified efforts and active public participation to combat the practice.

The District Administration expressed confidence that this joint initiative by the administration and social organizations will serve as a milestone in the prevention of child marriage, contributing significantly to making Karauli a child marriage-free district.
