Karauli: Mega-campaign against tobacco: Door-to-door survey from Monday, action under COTPA

Karauli, Rajasthan : A special campaign is being launched in Karauli district under the National Tobacco Control Program to create a tobacco-free society.Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Satish Chand Meena stated that various public awareness activities will be held at all Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in the district from May 25th to 31st, 2026.

The objective is to raise awareness among the public about the ill effects of tobacco and encourage de-addiction. During this period, Food Safety and Drug Control officials will also take strict legal action under the COTPA Act. The campaign will be implemented in a phased manner.

May 25th to 27th: During the first three days, meetings of the Village Health, Sanitation, and Nutrition Committee and the Women’s Health Committee were held. Awareness was also created through rallies and morning walks.

May 28th to 30th: ASHA workers and health workers will conduct door-to-door surveys to identify tobacco users. They will then be connected to tobacco cessation counseling services at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.

May 31 (World No Tobacco Day): Special events will be held on this key day. Experts will provide counseling, and if needed, consumers will be referred to the nearest dental clinic.
