New Zealand player Hannah Rowe has been named in place of the injured Flora Devonshire.

Indore, Women’s World Cup 2025 :The New Zealand women’s cricket team has suffered a major setback ahead of the ODI World Cup. Young spin all-rounder Flora Devonshire has been ruled out of the entire tournament due to injury. Devonshire suffered the injury during practice on the eve of the crucial match against South Africa on October 6.According to a Cricbuzz report, Devonshire has suffered a left hand injury, which could keep her out of action for 2-3 weeks. Due to this unfortunate situation, Devonshire’s ODI World Cup debut remained incomplete.

In her place, experienced fast bowler Hannah Rowe, who has previously represented New Zealand in 60 ODIs, has been included in the team. Although Rowe’s bowling style differs from Devonshire’s, she has considerable experience playing in subcontinental conditions, which could prove beneficial for the team.

Head coach Ben Sawyer lamented Devonshire’s absence, saying, “Flora worked hard to earn her place in the team, and it’s very unfortunate that she couldn’t seize this opportunity.”

He added, “We’re delighted to see an experienced player like Hannah back in the squad. She can strengthen the team with her versatility and experience.”

The New Zealand women’s team suffered a defeat against Australia in their very first match of the tournament. This injury is another mental blow before facing a strong team like South Africa.
