Fact Check : A video is rapidly going viral on social media claiming that Leh’s Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Ghulam Mohammad has accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s office of calling Sonam Wangchuk a “Pakistani agent” and ordering his arrest. However, an investigation by Mission Ki Awaaz has revealed that the video is edited and the alleged statement is false and misleading.

What is the viral claim?

In the viral video, Ghulam Mohammad is seen saying:

“We were ordered by the Home Ministry to arrest Sonam Wangchuk. We were ordered by Amit Shah’s office to accuse Sonam Wangchuk of being a Pakistani agent.”

In the video, he is also heard saying that if the public has any complaints, they should talk to BJP workers and not attack the police. This video is being linked to a claim on social media that the government is deliberately targeting Sonam Wangchuk.

Investigation: Is this statement true?

To determine the truth of this viral video, we investigated the following steps:

1. Google Keyword Search: We searched the internet using keywords like “ADC Leh Sonam Wangchuk Amit Shah,” but found no authentic media reports corroborating this alleged statement.

2. Google Reverse Image Search: Analyzing the video, we performed a reverse image search on the screenshot, which led us to the Facebook page of the Leh Department of Information and Public Relations, where Ghulam Mohammad’s original statement was posted on September 25, 2025.

What was said in the original video?

In the original video, Ghulam Mohammad provided information on the condition of those injured during the protest in Leh on September 24th. He stated:

“A total of 90 people were injured, of which 4 died and 7 are seriously injured. The district administration is appealing for peace.”

In this entire video, there is no mention of Sonam Wangchuk, Home Minister Amit Shah, or any arrests. Nor is anyone called a Pakistani agent.

What is the truth of the video?

The viral video has been edited. Parts of the original video have been cut out and fake audio has been added to make it appear that ADC Ghulam Mohammad has made serious allegations against the government. This video appears to have been deliberately created to provoke people.
