Major Decision by Rajasthan Housing Board: New Flats to be Built in Jaipur, Udaipur, Alwar, and Barmer; Crores of Budget Proposals Green-Lit

JAIPUR: In a major push toward providing affordable, high-quality housing to the general public, the Rajasthan Housing Board (RHB) has approved several landmark proposals. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma and the guidance of Urban Development and Housing (UDH) Minister Shri Jhabar Singh Kharra, a high-level meeting was convened at the board headquarters on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

The 255th Board Meeting and the 176th Project Committee Meeting were held under the chairmanship of Shri Alok Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary of the UDH Department and Chairman of the Housing Board. Administrative and financial sanctions were granted for residential development, infrastructure expansion, and public welfare projects across multiple cities in the state.

Strengthening Housing Infrastructure in Udaipur and Barmer

Board Chairman Shri Alok Gupta stated that the board is prioritizing the construction of new houses for economically weaker and low-income families. To achieve this, substantial budgets were approved for two major cities:

  • Udaipur (Paneriyon Ki Madri Housing Scheme): Financial approval has been granted for the construction of 144 LIG (Low-Income Group) category flats (G+3 structure) with a budget of ₹16.91 crore, alongside 160 EWS (Economically Weaker Section) category flats (G+3 structure) with an allocation of ₹14.82 crore.
  • Barmer (Barmer-Langera Housing Scheme): Administrative and financial sanction of ₹14.84 crore has been approved for building 80 EWS houses and 120 LIG houses under this project.

Expansion of Group Housing Projects in Jaipur and Alwar

During the 176th Project Committee meeting, several key decisions were finalized to ensure planned urban development and better community infrastructure:

  • Jaipur (Pratap Nagar Scheme): The board approved the revised layout plan for the Community Center located in Sector-22, which will significantly improve local civic amenities.
  • Alwar (N.E.B. Extension Housing Scheme): The planning proposal for a total of 64 new flats under the MIG-1 (Middle-Income Group-1) and LIG categories on a plot reserved for group housing in Sector-06 received a green signal.
  • Jaipur (Indira Gandhi Nagar Scheme): Following the reorganization of Block-A and Block-B reserved for group housing in Sector-09, the building map for 176 MIG-B category flats was officially approved.

Strict Directives for Timely Completion and Asset Safety

Housing Commissioner Shri Arvind Poswal commended the decisions made during the meetings and directed officials to ensure their timely, transparent execution on the ground. He emphasized that there would be absolutely no compromise on the quality of construction.

Furthermore, to protect the board’s valuable properties from encroachments, the Commissioner laid special emphasis on prioritizing demarcation, installing appropriate signage boards, and completing fencing work across all sites.

The high-level meeting witnessed the presence of Board Secretary Shri Gopal Singh, Deputy Secretary Dr. Ashok Kumar, Chief Engineers Shri Amit Agrawal and Shri T.S. Meena, Financial Advisor Shri K.C. Kumawat, and Additional Chief Town Planner Smt. Rinku Bansal, along with other senior department officials.
