To assess the progress of the ‘Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan Jan Abhiyan’ (Vande Ganga Water Conservation Public Campaign), an initiative launched to address water scarcity and enhance groundwater levels across the state, a special media field visit was organized on Wednesday. During this tour, media representatives closely inspected various water conservation structures prepared in several areas, including Gram Panchayat Bhavli in the Karauli district.
Concrete Steps Toward Water Conservation
Dharmendra Kumar Meena, Assistant Director of the Information and Public Relations Department, stated that under the state government’s ‘Vande Ganga’ campaign, the Panchayati Raj Department and other related agencies have worked extensively to strengthen water infrastructure in the district. The primary objectives of these structures include:
- Addressing Drinking Water Issues: Ensuring the availability of water at the local level.
- Water Recharge: Improving the groundwater table.
- Water Conservation: Harvesting rainwater to ensure it is stored for future needs.
Involvement of Officials and Media
During the field visit, media personnel directly inspected the status of ponds, check-dams, and other water storage structures. The tour was attended by Ghasiram Meena, Superintending Engineer of the Watershed Department, along with other departmental officials and district media representatives. The officials provided detailed insights to the media regarding the technical aspects of the work being carried out under the campaign and the long-term benefits expected for the region.
