Former Goa Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik dies of heart attack

Ravi Naik Death News : Ravi Naik, a prominent Goa politician and two-time Chief Minister, passed away late Tuesday night. The 79-year-old Naik suffered a heart attack in his hometown of Ponda. He was admitted to a private hospital in Ponda, where he was declared dead at around 1 a.m..

Ravi Naik’s political career was extremely varied. He won seven assembly elections from various parties, including the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), the Congress, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Elected six times from the Ponda constituency and once from the Marcaim constituency, Naik first entered the state assembly in 1984.

Naik also served twice as Chief Minister of Goa. His first term was from 1991 to 1993, when he led the Progressive Democratic Front government. He became Goa’s shortest-serving Chief Minister in 1994, lasting only six days. In addition, he was elected to the Parliament from North Goa in 1998.

Naik is survived by his wife, two children, a daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren. His passing marks a significant moment in Goa’s political history, one that will be long remembered.
