Jaipur: The ongoing cab drivers’ strike entered its fifth day on Friday in Jaipur. Under the banner of Samast Saarthi Sangathan, a major meeting was held at the Pink City Press Club with participation from bike, taxi, and cab drivers.

The drivers accused Ola and Uber of exploitative practices, stating that neither the safety of passengers nor of drivers is guaranteed. They urged the government to formulate a specific law that regulates the functioning of app-based cab companies.

Key Demands of the Drivers:

  • Implementation of government-approved minimum fare rates across all platforms.
  • Mandatory local offices of all cab companies in Jaipur.
  • Social security and insurance for all drivers, including compensation in case of accidents or death.
  • Immediate action against private vehicles being used for commercial rides, especially within government departments.

Sanjay Singh Ratnu, State President of Krantikari Taxi Driver Sangathan, warned of intensifying the protest if demands remain unfulfilled. He stated that the drivers will soon march to the Chief Minister’s residence and sit on an indefinite protest.

Currently, over 5,000 cabs are off the roads, creating inconvenience for daily commuters. Earlier, hundreds of drivers protested at the Shaheed Smarak and raised slogans against Ola and Uber.
