Rajasthan Police Cyber Crime Branch has warned taxpayers about rising online scams during the Income Tax Return (ITR) season. Fraudsters are targeting citizens with fake claims about tax refunds, PAN-Aadhaar linking, and profile verification to steal sensitive information.
Common Fraud Tactics:
- Fake messages & calls claiming your refund is on hold or ITR is incorrect, with links to malicious sites.
- Phishing websites mimicking incometax.gov.in, asking for PAN, Aadhaar, bank details, OTP, etc.
- Malware attachments disguised as ITR receipts (APK files).
- Social media scams using fake logos and QR codes promising instant refunds.
Safety Tips:
- Use only the official site incometax.gov.in.
- Verify sender’s email/number.
- Never share OTP, PAN, Aadhaar, or bank details.
- Avoid clicking suspicious links or scanning unknown QR codes.
