Rajasthan Police Cyber Crime Branch has warned taxpayers about rising online scams during the Income Tax Return (ITR) season. Fraudsters are targeting citizens with fake claims about tax refunds, PAN-Aadhaar linking, and profile verification to steal sensitive information.

Common Fraud Tactics:

  • Fake messages & calls claiming your refund is on hold or ITR is incorrect, with links to malicious sites.
  • Phishing websites mimicking incometax.gov.in, asking for PAN, Aadhaar, bank details, OTP, etc.
  • Malware attachments disguised as ITR receipts (APK files).
  • Social media scams using fake logos and QR codes promising instant refunds.

Safety Tips:

  • Use only the official site incometax.gov.in.
  • Verify sender’s email/number.
  • Never share OTP, PAN, Aadhaar, or bank details.
  • Avoid clicking suspicious links or scanning unknown QR codes.

Report fraud: Call 1930, file a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in, or contact 9256001930 / 9257510100.
