19 Minute Viral Video Link

The alleged viral MMS case involving Nashik-based astrologer Ashok Kharat has become a nationwide topic of discussion. The high-profile case intensified following reports of a large number of videos being recovered during police raids. However, under the guise of this sensational case, cybercriminals are now targeting the general public.

What Was Found in the Raids? Police Investigation Underway

According to investigative agencies, mobile phones, hard drives, and other electronic devices were seized during a thorough search of Ashok Kharatโ€™s office and premises. Sources claim that police have recovered between 58 and 100 videos. Currently, authorities are conducting a technical forensic examination of these videos to determine their authenticity, source, and to identify how many individuals may have been affected in this case.

The New Cyber Fraud Trap: Avoid ‘Viral Links’

As the news began trending on social media, platforms like Telegram, WhatsApp, and Instagram were flooded with messages claiming to provide “full video links.” Cyber experts have issued a stern warning:

  • Phishing Attacks: The 19-minute 34-second video or MMS links circulating on social media are almost always fake.
  • Malware Risk: Clicking on these suspicious links can trigger an automatic download of a virus (Malware) onto your phone or computer, putting your bank account at immediate risk.
  • Private Data Theft: These links are designed specifically to steal personal information, passwords, and sensitive banking details.

Is Searching for Such Content a Crime?

According to legal experts, viewing, downloading, or distributing someoneโ€™s private or obscene content without permission is a serious offense under the Information Technology (IT) Act, 2000 in India.

  • Sections 67 and 67A: Being found guilty under these sections can result in 3 to 5 years of imprisonment and a fine of up to โ‚น10 lakh.

Expert Advice

The Cyber Crime Cell has advised citizens not to click on any unknown links, especially those claiming to show sensational or leaked videos. Do not let curiosity compromise your financial security and personal data.
