Colombo : The Indian and Pakistani teams are facing off in a high-voltage match of the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 being played in Colombo. A slight tension was evident on the field before the match when Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur refused to shake hands with Pakistan captain Fatima Sana during the toss. After winning the toss, Pakistan decided to bowl first.
Harmanpreet’s behavior mirrors that of Suryakumar Yadav in the recent men’s World Cup, who maintained distance from the opposing captain during the match against Pakistan. This stance is believed to be due to the political and diplomatic relations between the two countries.
One change each in the playing XI for India and Pakistan
The Indian women’s team has made one change to its playing XI. Fast bowler Renuka Singh Thakur has replaced Amanjot Kaur. Meanwhile, Pakistan has included Sadaf Shamas in the playing XI, replacing Omaima Sohail.
India’s Women Playing XI: Prateek Rawal, Smriti Mandhana, Harleen Deol, Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (wicketkeeper), Sneh Rana, Renuka Singh Thakur, Kranti Goud, Shree Charani
