Jaipur, Rajasthan – Mr. Bob Blackman, a senior leader and Member of Parliament of the British Conservative Party, paid a courtesy call on Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Mr. Vasudev Devnani at the Assembly premises. This meeting is considered significant in strengthening parliamentary dialogue, democratic values, and mutual cooperation between India and the UK.

He stated that the Rajasthan Assembly’s architectural excellence is unparalleled and it is among the leading legislative assemblies in the country, where democracy has been integrated with modern technology and national consciousness through innovations such as the Digital Assembly, e-Vidhan system, digital signatures of MLAs, the Constitution Gallery, the Vande Mataram Gallery, and the Kargil Shaurya Vatika.

Assembly Speaker Mr. Devnani also highlighted Rajasthan’s cultural heritage, tourism potential, and tradition of social harmony. He stated that Rajasthan is known not only for its historical heritage but also for its democratic values and public participation.
On this occasion, the British MP was given a tour of the Assembly building and various galleries, and a special discussion was held on Rajasthan’s architectural art.
British MP Mr. Bob Blackman praised the strength of Indian democracy and parliamentary traditions. He stated that India is the world’s largest democracy and its parliamentary system sets an example globally. Mr. Blackman also stated that the parliamentary systems of India and the UK share many similarities, and that sharing experiences between the two countries can further strengthen democratic institutions.
During the meeting, India-UK historical ties, the current global landscape, and future partnerships were also discussed. Bob Blackman praised India’s rapidly growing economy, technological advancements, and its effective role on the international stage. He stated that India today plays a pivotal role in world politics and economics.

Mr. Bob Blackman praised the innovations made in the Assembly complex, stating that such efforts help connect democracy with the masses and inspire youth with democratic values. Both leaders expressed concern about the current global situation and the environmental and sanitation problems arising from increasing urbanization, both from the perspective of world peace.
At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed on the potential for cooperation in areas such as education, culture, tourism, and parliamentary training. Assembly Speaker Mr. Devnani expressed confidence that such international parliamentary meetings would further strengthen India’s democratic image globally, while British MP Mr. Bob Blackman thanked Mr. Devnani for Rajasthan’s hospitality and warm welcome.
Mr. Devnani expressed that the cordial meeting with Mr. Bob Blackman would provide new energy and direction to the friendly India-UK relations.
It is noteworthy that Speaker Devnani had a fruitful meeting and dialogue with Mr. Bob Blackman, a British MP who has been awarded the Padma Shri (2020) and is renowned as a strong friend of India and the Indian community in the British Parliament.
During his stay in London three months ago, Speaker Devnani had a fruitful meeting and dialogue. During that time, he was invited to visit the Rajasthan Assembly, which he accepted and visited on Monday.

Joshi, Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Tikaram Julie, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs in the State Government, Mr. Jogaram Patel, Chief Whip, Jogeshwar Garg, Malviya Nagar MLA, Mr. Kalicharan Saraf, Kapasan MLA, Mr. Arjunlal Jinagar, Adarsh Nagar MLA, Mr. Rafiq Khan, and Principal Secretary of the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Bharat Bhushan Sharma were also present.
