Tensions Mount in Karauli Over Bhukrawali Murder: Villagers Petition IG for Arrests and ₹50 Lakh Compensation

Karauli | May 4, 2026
The brutal murder of Ramveer Singh Jatav in Bhukrawali village, under the Suroth police station limits, continues to spark intense outrage in the region. Alleging police inaction two months after the crime, a delegation of villagers met with the Inspector General of Police (IG) of the Bharatpur Range on Monday to demand immediate justice and safety for the victim’s family.
The Incident: A Premeditated Crime
According to the victim’s family, on March 4, 2026, Ramveer Singh Jatav was lured from his home and taken to a secluded location, where he was allegedly murdered by more than ten individuals. The incident has sent shockwaves through the villages of Hindaun City and Suroth, creating a sense of fear and insecurity within the community. Although FIR No. 0073/2026 was registered at the Suroth police station, the family claims that the main perpetrators remain at large.
Key Demands Outlined in the Memorandum
Led by Lavkush (son of Amritlal), the villagers presented a formal memorandum to the IG with the following primary demands:
- Immediate Arrests and Rewards: The urgent arrest of all named suspects and the declaration of a ₹10,000 bounty on each of their heads.
- Investigation into Prior Complaints: A thorough investigation into complaints filed in December 2025 against former Congress District President Shivraj Meena and his kin. The villagers have leveled serious allegations of “land-grabbing” and “gangster activities” against them.
- Financial Aid and Rehabilitation: Compensation of ₹50 lakh for the grieving family, a compassionate government job, and safe housing provided in the Suroth township.
- Self-Defense: Issuance of an arms license to the victim’s family for their protection against potential threats.
Assurance from the IG Amidst Protest Warnings
The delegation—which included village president Santram, Puran Thekedar, Tikam, Veer Singh, Sumran, and Ranjit—warned the administration that if no significant progress is made, they would escalate their protest into a mass movement.
Upon hearing the grievances, the IG of Bharatpur Range assured the villagers of a swift investigation. He reportedly instructed the local police to fast-track the arrests of the suspects mentioned in the FIR to restore public confidence in the law.
Conclusion
The Bhukrawali murder case has become a flashpoint for legal and social accountability in Karauli. The upcoming days will be crucial in determining whether the police can fulfill the IG’s directives and provide the promised justice to Ramveer Singh Jatav’s family.
