The wait is finally over for cricket and cinema fans alike! Rajkummar Rao has officially hit the pitch, kicking off the highly anticipated Sourav Ganguly biopic, reportedly titled Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story. After wrapping up the initial Mumbai schedule, the production has now shifted to Kolkata and the city is already buzzing with excitement.

Leaked photos from the sets have taken social media by storm. Rao, stepping into the shoes of the legendary former Indian cricket captain, was recently spotted filming at iconic Kolkata locations, including the historic Eden Gardens and the Maidan. In several viral glimpses, the versatile actor was seen sporting a red tracksuit, perfectly channeling a young “Dada” during his early cricketing days.

Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, the film aims to chronicle Ganguly’s extraordinary journey from his childhood in the lanes of Behala to his monumental rise as one of India’s most celebrated sporting icons. The current 15 day Kolkata schedule is heavily focused on Ganguly’s formative years, with shoots taking place at his Behala residence, the East Bengal Club grounds and the Dukhiram Cricket Coaching Centre.

Now that the IPL season has concluded, the crew has gained full access to Eden Gardens to recreate some of Ganguly’s most defining career milestones. Interestingly, Sourav Ganguly himself has been closely involved in the project and was reportedly present on set during portions of the shoot to ensure complete authenticity.

With Rajkummar Rao’s proven ability to completely transform for a role and Motwane’s visionary direction, expectations are sky-high for this sports drama. As more set photos continue to leak online, the hype surrounding the film is only getting bigger.
