Rajasthan’s Senior Citizen Pilgrimage Scheme to Start from June 6

The Rajasthan Devasthan Department has kicked off preparations for the Senior Citizen Pilgrimage Scheme 2025-26. The first AC train will depart for Rameshwaram from Jaipur’s Durgapura Railway Station on June 6, to be flagged off by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Devasthan Minister Zoraram Kumawat.

For the first time, the journey will be conducted in fully air-conditioned coaches. A total of 776 pilgrims will travel in the first batch — 600 from Jaipur, Sikar, Alwar, Dausa, and Jhunjhunu, and 176 from Bharatpur (boarding at Sawai Madhopur).

The department aims to send 50,000 senior citizens on pilgrimage this year — 6,000 by air and 44,000 by train. The online application portal will be launched soon.

Key pilgrimage destinations include Trimbakeshwar, Dashmeshwar, Goa, and Agra. This year, the train will be specially decorated to reflect Rajasthani culture, with murals of temples, forts, folk dances, and festivals painted on all 11 coaches.
