The Rajasthan High Court has ordered the Bhajanlal government to pause issuing notifications for the formation of new gram panchayats. The directive came during a hearing in Jaipur district on a plea challenging the proposal to upgrade Parmanpura village to a gram panchayat.

A division bench led by Justices Ashok Kumar Jain and Mukesh Rajpurohit emphasized that no notifications should be released until a three-member high-level committee addresses local objections and submits its report . Petitioners argued that the state’s January 2025 directives for reorganisation have not been followed transparently, and the restructuring ignored census data.

The next court hearing has been scheduled for July 7, 2025, during which the committee’s findings will be examined, and transparency issues are expected to be central to the proceedings .
