Outcry in Lucknow: CM Helpline Employees Protest Over Low Salary and Working Conditions

In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, more than 200 employees working for the Chief Ministerβs Helpline 1076 held a protest demanding better wages and improved working conditions. The employees claimed they were initially promised a monthly salary of βΉ15,000, but in reality they were receiving only around βΉ7,000ββΉ8,000, which they argued was insufficient to support their families.
The protest began early in the morning from Cyber Tower in the Gomtinagar area, with participants chanting slogans and attempting to march toward the Chief Ministerβs office to express their grievances. Police personnel stopped the procession at Lohia Path, and tensions rose as authorities tried to prevent further movement.
Videos circulating on social media showed clashes between police and employees, with some officers seen pulling protesting workers aside. Demonstrators also alleged that salary payments had been delayed for several months and that basic facilities and breaks were not being adequately provided during working hours.
Officials maintained that law and order had to be preserved, and while they acknowledged the employeesβ concerns, they stated that discussions were needed to address the issues and find a resolution.
