Major Action by PCPNDT Team in Jaipur: Portable Sonography Machine Racket Busted, Smuggler from Bengal Arrested

Jaipur, June 26: In a major breakthrough, the Rajasthan PCPNDT (Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques) team has busted an interstate gang involved in illegal fetal sex determination using portable ultrasound machines. The operation was carried out under the direction of National Health Mission Director Dr. Amit Yadav, resulting in the arrest of Amitabh Bhaduri, who had arrived in Jaipur from West Bengal to deliver a foreign-made portable sonography machine.

Exposed After Two Months of Secret Surveillance

According to Dr. Hemant Jakhar, ASP (PCPNDT), the gang’s activities had been closely monitored for the past two months. A tip-off had revealed that an organized network was illegally trading portable ultrasound machines across the country. Preliminary investigations found that these machines were being sold for ₹7 to ₹10 lakh each.

Following a strategic plan, the team contacted 45-year-old Amitabh Bhaduri, a resident of Hooghly, West Bengal, and negotiated a deal for ₹6.25 lakh for one machine. An advance payment was made, with the rest to be handed over upon delivery.

From Railway Station to Central Park – The Team Stayed in Pursuit

As soon as Amitabh Bhaduri arrived at Jaipur Railway Station with the machine, the PCPNDT team began tailing him. While waiting in the station lounge, he sent a voice message to the gang leader, Dr. Aditya Murarka, warning him to stay alert and evade the police. In a cinematic twist, he even quoted a famous movie line: “Catching Don is not just difficult, it’s impossible. And you are that Don, Dr. Aditya Murarka.”After roaming around several key locations in the city, he finally reached Central Park, where the PCPNDT team was already stationed and caught him red-handed.

Major Revelations During Interrogation

During questioning, it was revealed that the machine had been procured from Life Plus Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata, operated by Dr. Aditya Murarka. The accused confessed that the gang was smuggling portable ultrasound machines from abroad and selling them across various Indian states. The team immediately alerted Kolkata police and administration to take action against the gang leader and the company.

Foreign-Made Device – Small Package, Big Danger

The machine was compact enough to fit in a small suitcase and featured color Doppler technology. It came equipped with all necessary cables and diagnostic tools. Such machines are used for fetal sex determination, which is strictly prohibited under the PCPNDT Act.

Brave Officers Behind the Operation

The Bikaner team played a commendable role in this operation. Dr. Devendra Chaudhary, Director of the Bikaner Zone, and PCPNDT in-charge Mahendra Singh Charan closely supervised the operation from start to finish. PBI Police Station in-charge CI Satyapal Yadav, CI Santosh Kumar Sharma, and constables Narendra Kumar, Kailash, Shanu Chaudhary, and Rajanti demonstrated exceptional vigilance and alertness that ensured the operation’s success.
