New York: Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni recently stated at the United Nations General Assembly that India can play an important role in resolving conflicts and wars around the world. Praising India’s growing global standing, she said, “India can play a key role in this direction.”
Referring to a recent telephone conversation between India and Italy, Meloni said that the leaders of the two countries had a serious discussion on global and regional issues. In particular, they resolved to work together to resolve the Ukraine crisis. Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured India’s full support for this initiative.
The leaders of India and Italy have decided to take several important steps to further strengthen their strategic partnership. This will focus on key areas such as investment, defense, space, education, and the fight against terrorism. Additionally, the two countries pledged to implement a joint strategic action plan for 2025-2029.
During the talks, Prime Minister Meloni also emphasized the importance of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the European Union (EU). He stated that Italy would support India in finalizing this agreement as quickly as possible, which would benefit businesses and consumers in both countries.
