The third day of the first Test between India and England at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground witnessed high-quality bowling and a gripping battle for control.

India, who batted first, posted 245 runs in their first innings, with contributions from Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant. However, the Indian batters struggled against the swinging deliveries of James Anderson and the pace of Mark Wood. In reply, England managed 284 runs, securing a lead of 39 runs.

India’s second innings began with early setbacks. Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed cheaply, and skipper Rohit Sharma could not convert his start into a big score. Cheteshwar Pujara showed resilience but the run flow was slow. By lunch, India had reached 68/2.

The star of the day was again the bowling – both teams bowled with discipline. England’s bowlers maintained tight lines and lengths, constantly testing the Indian batters. As the day progressed, India’s lead crossed 100, but with four wickets already down, the match remained evenly poised.

Score Summary (at Tea, Day 3):

  • India 1st Innings: 245 all out
  • England 1st Innings: 284 all out
  • India 2nd Innings: 110/4

The pitch has begun to deteriorate, making it difficult for batsmen. The final two days are expected to be crucial in determining the outcome. Both teams still have a fair shot at winning.
