Report: Mission Ki Awaaz News Desk | Karauli

The intense heatwave in Hindaun City, Rajasthan, has severely disrupted daily life. On Sunday, the mercury soared to 44°C, with minimum temperatures also on the rise, leading to hot and uncomfortable nights.

Adding to the woes, several localities experienced power outages lasting 3 to 4 hours during the midnight hours, making it difficult for residents—especially children and the elderly—to sleep. Without electricity, cooling appliances failed to provide relief from the heat.

According to the Agro-Meteorological Department in Karauli, officer M.K. Nayak stated that the recent rise in temperature is due to the end of the western disturbance. There is currently no chance of rain, and conditions are expected to become even more severe in the coming days.

During the early morning itself, by 10 a.m., the temperature had already touched 36–37°C. As a result, streets remained deserted from late morning to evening, with most people preferring to stay indoors except during early hours and after sunset.

Interestingly, during the traditional nine-day “Nautapa” period, temperatures were relatively lower this year, ranging from 39°C to 36°C. However, with the end of May and onset of June, the temperature is again climbing, and it may cross 45°C soon.

Residents have appealed to the administration to ensure uninterrupted power supply and provide measures to deal with the heat stress.
