Jaipur/Kotputli-Behror: With the vision of making sports the foundation of life and nation-building rather than limiting it to winning or losing, the “Summer Camp 2026” (Women’s Category), organized under the Alwar MP Sports Festival 2025-26, was inaugurated on Saturday at RPS International School, Kotputli-Behror.

This special event was launched in the gracious presence of the Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav, and the Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister of Rajasthan, Smt. Diya Kumari. The enthusiasm of veteran coaches from across the country, participating female athletes, and their parents made the event even more remarkable.

Sports: A Powerful Medium for Leadership and Nation-Building

Addressing the gathering, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav stated that sports instill discipline, self-confidence, and team spirit in the youth.

  • A Platform for Talent: The primary objective of the MP Sports Festival is to identify sports talent at the rural and regional levels and prepare them for national and international platforms.
  • Top-Tier Training: With the support of Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, excellent coaches from all over the country have joined this camp. There are plans to make it even more advanced in the future in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI).

Appreciating the initiative, Deputy CM Diya Kumari said that such summer camps are not merely competitive arenas but are robust platforms to hone the self-confidence of the youth. She expressed confidence that these efforts under the leadership of Shri Bhupender Yadav will play a crucial role in realizing the dream of a ‘Viksit Rajasthan’ (Developed Rajasthan) and ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).

Alwar MP Sports Festival: Setting New Records of Success

This sports festival has become a massive platform for public participation in the region:

  • 2024 Statistics: Approximately 18,000 athletes participated across 11 sports disciplines on 11 sports grounds.
  • Massive Expansion in 2025: The number of sports grounds has now increased to 18, and sports disciplines to 14. The number of participants has crossed 40,000, with 1,459 teams securing their spots.

Key Highlights of Summer Camp 2026

This camp has been meticulously designed keeping in mind the holistic development of the athletes:

  • Talent Selection: 609 outstanding athletes have been selected, out of which 400 are participating in the camp this year.
  • Focus on Comprehensive Development: The camp goes beyond on-field training. Athletes will receive guidance on balanced diets, physiotherapy, and mental toughness.
  • Special Sessions: Crucial classes will be held on topics like communication skills, self-defense, leadership abilities, menstrual hygiene, and gender sensitivity.

Infrastructure Development and Major Announcements

Discussions on strengthening the region’s infrastructure were also a key highlight of the event:

  • Sports Infrastructure: Construction of 18 new sports grounds, a hockey astroturf, a wrestling stadium, and running tracks.
  • Education and Employment: Establishment of 133 e-libraries and the development of 47 cluster office buildings to empower women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
  • Tourism: Plans to develop Siliserh Lake into an international center for ‘bird watching’.
  • Alwar Tiger Marathon: During the event, the guests made a major announcement regarding the organization of the ‘Alwar Tiger Marathon’ scheduled for February 7.

The event concluded with the felicitation of national and state-level medalists Komal Bhati and Anant Soni. Prominent public representatives, including MLAs Devi Singh Shekhawat, Kuldeep Dhankhar, and Sukhwant Singh, were present on the occasion.
