Glenn McGrath : Legendary Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath has heaped praise on Indian cricketer KL Rahul. He described him as the most versatile player of the current era. During a conversation on the YouTube channel ‘Fast Bowling Cartel,’ McGrath said that Rahul has proven himself even in difficult situations.
“Rahul has batted at every position”McGrath said,
“KL Rahul has scored runs for the Indian team in difficult situations many times. He has batted at various positions, from the top order to the middle and lower order. Sometimes such a change in roles can affect confidence, but Rahul has adapted. This is his biggest strength.”
Wicketkeeping along with batting
KL Rahul is not only a batsman but also performs wicketkeeping duties when needed. Speaking on this, McGrath said,
“Rahul also keeps wicket, which makes him even more useful. I think he has batted in almost all 11 positions at some point.”
“A player like this deserves full respect”
McGrath said that a player like KL Rahul, who plays every role as per the team’s needs, deserves full respect in the cricket world. He also admitted that constantly changing positions can affect confidence, but Rahul has handled it well.
Recent Performance and the Challenge Ahead
India recently lost the first ODI between India and Australia, but KL Rahul played a crucial innings of 38 runs in that match. The second match of the series will be played in Adelaide on October 23. Rahul currently plays the role of an opening batsman for India in Test cricket.
Rahul also batted at number six during the 2025 Champions Trophy, which is another example of his flexibility.
