In a tragic incident in Rajasthan’s Dholpur district, a 23-year-old married woman, Preeti, ended her life by hanging herself at her parental home in Surothi village, Kanchanpur police station area. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon while her family was away working in a mango orchard.

Preeti was married four years ago to Shani, son of Bunty Kadera, a resident of Anguthi village in Agra district. According to her father, Maharaj Singh Kadera, she had been facing harassment from her husband and in-laws due to the couple’s inability to have children. Ongoing conflicts forced her to leave her matrimonial home and live with her parents for the last two months.

On the day of the incident, the entire family had gone to work in an orchard they had rented for mango harvesting. When the children returned home, they found the door locked from inside. Upon breaking it open, they discovered Preeti hanging in her room.

The local police arrived at the scene and sent the body to Bari hospital for postmortem, conducted in the presence of Tehsildar Uttamchand Bansal. Based on the father’s complaint, police have launched an investigation into the matter.

The incident has raised serious concerns about the societal pressure on women regarding childbearing and the emotional trauma that follows, often with irreversible consequences.
