Jaipur: There is a significant update for the elderly, widows, and differently-abled individuals benefiting from the social security pension in Rajasthan. The state’s Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr. Avinash Gehlot, has issued clear instructions to launch a 15-day special district-level campaign to complete the physical verification of pensioners who have missed the process so far.
During a high-level review meeting held on Friday at the Ambedkar Bhawan auditorium in Jaipur, Minister Gehlot made it clear that the state government is fully committed to ensuring that every single eligible beneficiary receives their rightful pension.
3.50% of Pensioners Still Await Verification During the meeting, the latest statistics regarding the state’s pension scheme were presented:
- Total Beneficiaries: Currently, about 8.9 million (89 lakh) people are receiving social security pensions in Rajasthan.
- Verification Status: Out of these, 96.50% of the beneficiaries have been successfully verified.
- Future Strategy: The remaining 3.50% of beneficiaries will be verified over the next 15 days through this special campaign.
The Minister specifically highlighted the 5 districts with the highest number of pending verification cases. To expedite the process and clear the backlog, special teams of officials from the headquarters will be dispatched to these districts.
Review of Budget Announcements and Key Schemes The meeting was not limited to pensions; the progress of several other crucial departmental schemes was also thoroughly evaluated. Mr. Gehlot reviewed a total of 50 budget announcements for the financial years 2024-25, 2025-26, and 2026-27. Expressing satisfaction with the progress, he noted that 26 projects have been completed, 18 are under process, and work on the remaining 6 has already begun.
Detailed discussions were also held on the effective implementation of scholarships, the Palanhar Scheme, Chief Minister Anuprati Coaching Scheme, Divyang Scooty distribution, the Silicosis scheme, Navjeevan scheme, and the operation of de-addiction centers. Furthermore, the Minister instructed officials to study successful innovations from other states so they can be implemented in Rajasthan for better public service delivery.
Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Dinesh Kumar presented the departmental progress report during the meeting. The session was also attended by Commissioner (Directorate of Specially Abled) Mr. Iqbal Khan, Director Mr. Lalit Kumar, Additional Director Mr. Pankaj Ojha, and several other senior departmental officials.
