A sensitive incident has been reported from the Rasra Kotwali area in Ballia district, Uttar Pradesh, where unknown miscreants vandalized a statue of Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar in Rohana village. The act, which occurred late Friday night, sparked significant outrage among local residents on Saturday morning, leading to protests and a heavy police presence in the area.

Details of the Incident: Vandalism Under the Cover of Night

According to local police and administrative officials, the incident took place around 11:00 PM on Friday. Mischievous elements allegedly damaged the nose and finger of the newly installed statue. The desecration was discovered early Saturday morning by villagers, leading to an immediate gathering of a large crowd demanding the swift arrest of the perpetrators.

Administrative Response: Officials Rush to the Scene

Recognizing the gravity of the situation and the potential for communal unrest, Rasra Circle Officer (CO) Alok Gupta, along with Kotwali Inspector Yogendra Bahadur Singh and the Naib Tehsildar, reached the spot with a significant police contingent. The officials engaged with the agitated villagers, assuring them of strict legal action against those responsible for the act.

Immediate Steps Taken by the Authorities:

  • FIR Registered: Based on a complaint filed by a local resident, Ramnath, a case has been registered against unidentified individuals under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
  • Restoration of the Statue: To lower tensions and restore communal harmony, the administration supervised the immediate repair and restoration of the damaged statue.
  • Security Deployment: As a precautionary measure, the Naib Tehsildar and additional police units have been stationed in Rohana village to prevent any further escalation.
