Australia’s Perry and Garth Out of First ODI vs India; Schutt, Hamilton Step In

Australia women cricket team :Australia’s women’s cricket team faces a major blow ahead of their 50-over clash with India, as star players Ellyse Perry and Kim Garth have been ruled out of the three-match ODI series. Both sustained quad injuries during the third T20I, which India won by 17 runs to take a 2-1 series lead.

Megan Schutt and Lucy Hamilton have been called up as replacements, with Schutt set to feature in the first ODI at Allan Border Field in Brisbane.

Despite this setback, Australia has not ruled out the possibility of Perry and Garth playing in the lone Test in Perth, scheduled to begin on March 6. Their recovery will be closely monitored throughout the second and third ODIs in Hobart later this week.

During the T20I series, Garth claimed three wickets, including two in Australia’s victory in Canberra, while Perry scored 20 in the series opener and struggled in the following matches.

The team is also preparing for a new leadership era, with Sophie Molineux poised to take over the captaincy as Alyssa Healy plays her farewell series. Australia will need at least two ODI wins to secure an outright series victory and bid a fitting farewell to Healy.
