A sensitive issue has emerged from Akrabad area of Aligarh district in Uttar Pradesh, where members of the Dalit community have raised strong objections after Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s photo printed on a wedding invitation card was allegedly insulted.

According to local reports, a young man allegedly tore the image of Dr. Ambedkar from the wedding card, made objectionable remarks, and stepped on the torn picture. A video of the incident was reportedly recorded and circulated on social media, leading to anger and protests among local residents.

The matter quickly gained attention as people demanded strict legal action against the accused.

Incident Linked to a Dalit Family’s Wedding Card

The controversy is related to the wedding card of a Dalit family from Nagla Sartaj village in Akrabad. The family’s daughter is scheduled to be married on April 29, and invitation cards had been distributed among relatives and known people in the village.

It is alleged that a youth from the Thakur community took one of the cards, tore the printed image of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, used disrespectful language against him, and placed the torn image under his feet.

The accused also allegedly made a video of the act and shared it on social media, which later went viral and triggered widespread anger.

Dalit Community Reached Police Station

As soon as the video spread, members of the Dalit community gathered and strongly protested against the act. A large number of villagers reached Akrabad police station and submitted a written complaint demanding immediate action.

Among those present were Avnesh Kumar, Gulshan Babu, Ankit Gautam, Omprakash, Omveer Singh, Dheeraj Kumar, Somveer, Ramu Gautam, Rohit, Suraj Pal, Nekse Ram, Sandeep, Bunty, Rajveer, Ajay, Sohanlal, Gajraj Singh, and many others.

The group demanded strict punishment for the accused and said such acts hurt not only personal sentiments but also the dignity of the entire community.

Police Assured Strict Action

Police officials accepted the complaint and assured the protesting villagers that proper legal action would be taken after investigation.

Station in-charge Vinod Kumar stated that police have received a complaint regarding tampering and disrespect involving Baba Saheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s image and the matter is under investigation.

He said that once the inquiry is completed, necessary legal steps will be taken and the accused will be arrested if found guilty.

The police are also examining the viral video and collecting local statements to confirm all facts related to the incident.

Why the Matter Became Highly Sensitive

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar is one of India’s most respected national leaders and the architect of the Indian Constitution. Any insult or disrespect involving his image, statue, or name often creates deep emotional reactions, especially among Dalit communities.

In this case, the issue became even more sensitive because the image was printed on a wedding invitation card, a symbol of family respect and celebration.

The alleged act was seen not only as disrespect toward Dr. Ambedkar but also as an insult to the dignity of the family and the wider community.

Social Media Role in Escalation

The viral video played a major role in spreading the incident quickly. Social media often turns local disputes into major public issues within hours, especially when matters involve social dignity and public sentiment.

Residents said that if the video had not been circulated, the issue might have remained limited to the village. However, once it spread online, it caused greater anger and public pressure for immediate action.

This also increased demands for a transparent police investigation.

Current Situation

At present, police investigation is ongoing and the local administration is monitoring the situation closely to maintain peace.

Community leaders have appealed for calm but have also made it clear that they expect strict punishment against the accused if the allegations are proven true.

The case has become an important local issue and many residents are waiting for official police action.

Conclusion

The Aligarh Ambedkar wedding card controversy highlights how incidents involving public respect and social dignity can quickly become serious community matters.

Whether through social media or direct local action, such issues require sensitive handling, fair investigation, and transparent legal response.

The focus now remains on police findings and whether justice will be delivered in a way that restores public trust and community harmony.
