Ukraine-Russia war : The release of a draft plan to end the Ukraine-Russia war, prepared by former US President Donald Trump, has sparked political tensions. The draft calls for an end to the war through mutual consent. In this regard, US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll visited Kyiv and held detailed discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Zelensky stated on social media that the two countries would work together on the points of the peace proposal, though he refrained from directly commenting on the draft.
How was the draft prepared?
According to sources, the draft process began after Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, spoke with Rustem Umerov, a close adviser to the Ukrainian president. Umerov agreed to most of the points after making some amendments and presented them to President Zelensky.

Ukraine currently holds about 14% of the territory, but the draft calls for this to be handed over to Russia as well.Furthermore, it also proposes lifting several sanctions on Russia and re-admitting Russia to the once-influential G-8 group. This has increased additional pressure on President Zelensky.
Conditions for Ukraine to cede land and limit its military
The draft also calls for Ukraine to cede some of its territory to Russia and limit the size of its military.
